Description
Iodine flask is made from 3.3 borosilicate glass and contains only glass components. The conical form of the iodine flask leads to an easy mixing and the standard ground joint leads to a tight closure. In order to estimate the content, there are easy to read graduation marks made of fired-on and highly durable white ceramic. There are three main differences between Iodine flasks and normal conical flasks(Erlenmeyer):
- The ground glass joint
- The modified stopper
- The funnel shaped top
Iodine and Iodine-related molecules which are produced during an analysis are highly volatile. That means that they turn into vapors so fast. The ground glass joint of the Iodine flask prevents these vapors from escaping and enhances the analysis accuracy.
The funnel shaped top helps you get your stuff into the flask and prevents loss during spillage. It also prevents the need for a separate glass funnel. When something ends up on the tapered neck it is rinsed into the flask directly. Iodine flasks are available in three sizes:
- 250ml
- 500ml
- 1000ml
